Spin out with Wave Break

It has been just over a year since Ignite//Decay, but Wave Break has certainly not slowed down. All throughout 2025 they’ve played shows around the New Jersey scene as well as Summer Scream Fest, Emo Night and more. The band did release a track back in May of this year, “Easier Said” which sounded more or less like an extension of the previous record and drew my attention back to the EP after some months apart. Now, just a couple of months away from playing with The Foxies and Emblem3 they’ve released another new single, “Spinning Out.” Both tracks were produced by Ryan Weil. “Spinning Out” was mixed and mastered by ZK productions who have worked with Mayday Parade, Go Radio and a lot more.

While I wouldn’t say “Spinning Out” is totally out of left field for Wave Break I’m pleasantly surprised by just how far into new territory they go. Like the last EP this is a great rock song with more hope igniting lyricism. This band has always had a heavy edge to them; this track is two steps above a tinge. Ignite//Decay had riffs I would liken to alternative or pop punk classics, the opening seconds of this new angle sound like a post-hardcore record in the same decade. While lyrically this could fit onto the last release there is a deeper sense of urgency to these melodies. There are screams on a Wave Break song, the bridge here is a few notes short of a breakdown. It’s nice to see this band getting better and tighter locked into what keeps them going as each release goes on.

As it says up top Wave Break is playing with lolitslea, The Foxies and Emblem3 at House of Independents in Asbury Park, NJ on November 12th. “Spinning Out” and its video are both available now.
