My Votes for the Scene Daddy Music Awards and Why

For this week’s (ha, implying I actually finish two posts a week) additional post I wanted to do something a bit different. Normally I review whatever records I’m listening to a bit more than normal and of course we go over the weekly winners each week as well. The thing there is you guys don’t get to hear much of my opinions beyond what I like. That being said, this week is the SDMAs, the only award “show” I really care to take notice of because it takes the opinions of the alternative scene and awards the artists by shining a light onto them. Now, I know we don’t only cover scene music here but that is where my interest in music started. So, I thought it’d be fun to go over the categories presented and make my case for why you should, or should not vote for each of my choices. You can vote for these categories here all week and we’re gonna go over them a bit rapidly below. Normally I try to make this nice and presentable with images and things like that but I wanted to get this to

This was a weird, sleeper week for me personally. I knew the scene at large was really looking forward to ERRA this week but wasn’t really part of the hype there. That being said still had some good stuff to listen to this week! Looking forward to a lot of singles in the coming week too. As always let me know if there’s something you think I’ve missed. In other news, working on two posts that aren’t my usual report or review. Hoping to get more of my opinions of some not so new stuff out there. Look forward to it! ERRA - ERRA (UNFD) Like the First and Forever EP last week the community is very excited for this one and I’m not trying to take that away from anyone! I enjoyed my time on this record this week. Don’t think it’ll be an on repeat for me throughout the year but there is so much good here. Definitely give it a shot if you’re in the mood for something heavy. LANDMVRKS - Lost in the Waves (Arising Empire) Now this heavy album I think will stick with me a bit more. You don’t rea

Sorry we’re late this week! Working on a longer post and had some work responsibilities so fell a bit behind! Hope everyone’s enjoying some new stuff. Riley! - Already Fucked I’ve been really enjoying this fun, sort of self deprecating rock sound as of late. Sort of comparable to FIDLAR or The Dirty Nil record from just a few months ago. Also A+ on the song titles for this one really phoning in that early 2000s sense of not taking it too seriously. Rob Zombie - The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Theory (Nuclear Blast) General media legend Rob Zombie has released his new record. To be honest I didn’t realize he was still recording music. A nice thing about Rob Zombie is he’s one of the few figures of his scene that haven’t just fallen into being angry with the younger generation and this record is proof of that. Does not feel like a throwaway at all and just really good songs overall. First and Forever - Let This Love Lie Dead (Adventure Cat Records) New EP from First and Forever, b
