Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever (Interscope / Darkroom)

I got to say, compared to most people I was not that hot on When We Fall Asleep but this feels like a major upgrade on first listen. There are production choices here that feel like risks that maybe Finneas wouldn’t have taken on the first record and that’s not even to undersell the things Billie herself does either. Glad to see they haven’t declined when they got a hit on success.

Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! - Gone Are the Good Days (Fearless Records)

It took five years but Captain Chunk is back and better than ever! This album sends you on a journey to the past and makes you feel like you’re at Warped Tour, has a soul ascending sax solo and revitalizes a five year old single in an emotional way without even re-recording it. This may have taken the throne as my current album of the year.

Flight Club - Until the Sun Drowns (Open Your Ears Records)

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it every album drop. This label cannot miss. Flight Club is a bit more of a pop rock sound and is a blast to listen to. Huge shout out to every guitar chord on this record especially.

Creeper - American Noir (Roadrunner Records)

Sex, Death and the Infinite Void came out just last year so while I wasn’t exactly starving for more Creeper this is so welcome. This release really encapsulates the scenery it's going for in the title. A big thing I want to point out here, though, is the full utilization of Hannah Greenwood as a vocalist. In the past she sang maybe a couple lines a record but here she takes full leads on two tracks. Definitely something to go check out.

The Seafloor Cinema - Tap Taply / Drip God (Pure Noise Records)

Been waiting on this new record for a little bit but now we have a date, two new tracks and the announcement that they’ve signed to Pure Noise! The first one is a progressive post-hardcore banger and the second is a low key hyper pop cut? Both are very good and the new record is coming November 12th.

Spiritbox - Constance (acoustic, Rise Records)

If Constance hit you emotionally before it definitely will now. It’s acoustic so it’s obviously a heavier mood but the arrangement just makes it hit so much harder. I’ve been hearing on  and off though that the acoustic version was not included in the 7”? Wondering about that so wanted to include it here.
