Weekly Winners, week of 2/28/21 - 3/6/21
Good morning, I hope you had a good week! We’re gonna keep it a bit low key this time as it wasn’t quite a monstrous release week like last week. Some updates with what we do here, we have a piece on pulses. coming up. Promised this on twitter a bit ago but it’s a bit bigger than I imagined but it’s coming along so keep your eyes open! The Jetty Bones review is up on the blog, click her name to go check that out. Have some other things planned so we’ll have stuff for you.
Denzel Curry / Kenny Beats - UNLOCKED 1.5 (pH Recordings)
Talked about the singles leading up to this but this remix project based on a release from last year. Some are better, some not so much but it’s worth the listen and it’s the only full release on the list this week.
Gulch/Sunami split (Triple B Records)
Hardcore split from Gulch and Sunami that I… don’t have much comment on other than it’s good and I don’t know which song is by which band.
Brand of Sacrifice - Vengeance (feat. Jamie Graham)
Deathcore concept band Brand of Sacrifice have released their sophomore record Lifeblood. It takes a lot for me to enjoy the genre but this track really got me. It’s heavy in all the right, exciting ways. If you’re interested in the record as a whole it’s making a lot of waves and the band writes music based on the manga Berserk.
Atreyu - Warrior (feat. Travis Barker) / Underrated (Universal Music Operations Limited)
Almost don’t want to include this as it isn’t great but Atreyu have released this double single. Travis Barker feature (what feels like the thousandth this year) and continuing without their previous vocalist. It is pretty blatant butt rock and to be honest the second track goes into some fairly bad song writing decisions instrumentally. In spite of all this there is some catchy character here so wanted to point it out.
Bring Me the Horizon - Can You Feel My Heart (Jeris Johnson remix) (Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited)
Tik Tok remix artist Jeris Johnson continues remixing classic scene tracks. He has a vocal feature here as well just like in the Papa Roach one. The original song certainly holds up and I'm glad to see this revisited version.
Tyler, the Creator - Tell Me How (Columbia Records)
Tyler releases a new hip hop track that sounds like a buffet of his sounds. Apparently it was for a Coca-cola commercial so the lyrics are very much that but overall it’s a good track.
