Weekly Winners, week of 2/21/21 - 2/27/21

So I’m going to level with you guys. I was not as enthusiastic this week but it was only because next week's post is going to be a big deal. I got a head start on that list and just have been listening to this week’s records and tracks and it’s gonna be huge. That being said we still have some stuff for you this week!

A Scent Like Wolves - Mystic Auras (We Are Triumphant)

Never heard of A Scent Like Wolves before this week but this record is a nice callback to those earlier days of post-hardcore and is a really enjoyable listen. Also has some big name features from the genre today. My only complaint is it’s 10 tracks with an intro and interlude so it really boils to 8 and goes by a little fast for what it is.

Harakiri for the Sky - Maere (AOP Records)

This one comes as a bit hard to swallow and suggest as it’s a 10 track, hour and a half long, record where the production on the vocals make them sound just so quiet. It is a good metal record compositionally however so give it a shot if you like the heavy stuff.

Stick to Your Guns - The Meaning Remains EP (Pure Noise Records)

Good ole Stick to Your Guns, it’s the classic songs and a cover. I was never too into the band but this as a nice little campfire-esque feel really put me in a good mood. If you’re looking for something like that or you just like the band definitely try this out.

Andrew W.K. - Babalon (Napalm Records Handels Gmbh)

If you were never a fan of Andrew W.K.’s party rock aesthetic then I highly recommend you come here. Don’t wanna spoil it just give it a listen, it’s something special.

Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats - So.Incredible.pkg [Robert Glasper Version feat. Smino] (PH Recordings)

Just wanted to take this quick news moment. UNLOCKED was an EP I really enjoyed last year and really looking forward to the remixed product as well. Not usually a fan of remixes but this is sounding really good.

pulses. - No Good Can Come from This, but it Can’t Get Any Worse

Was not going to highlight this track this week and just put it in the other tracks list below but I really want to call attention to pulses. this week. The nature of the format that I do makes me call out releases a week later but seriously listen to this single and the EP it’s attached to and we’ll see you in next week's list. (And maybe another big post more focused on the band soon, *hint, hint.*)

Will Joseph Cook - Be Around Me (feat. chloe moriondo) (Bad Hotel)

I’ve said it before but I will almost always shine a light where chloe goes as she just brings so much life to every track she’s on. As always not trying to discount the artist here this is a really good, catchy pop rock song. Has a little bit of a cheesy theater musical vibe but it’s cute I’m into it.

Other Tracks

Alice Phoebe Lou - Dirty Mouth

Hail the Sun - Parasitic Cleanse (Equal Vision Records)

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - Pleura

Lord Huron - Not Dead Yet (Whispering Pines Studios Inc.)
